For the fun quotient in Bangalore, head to Koramangala

When you think of a good shopping destination, incredible food, movies, hanging out with friends or simply chilling out over the weekend at a pub, there is one place that takes centrestage—Koramangala. This neighbourhood located almost in the heart of Bangalore city is one of the most happening places and a favourite jaunt not only for youngsters, but also for all age groups. From malls to eateries to multiplexes to discotheques and pubs, you will find them all here. The hustle and bustle of the ubiquitous traffic and constant honking of vehicles are constant reminders that this boarding point is anything but quiet and peaceful.

Koramangala might be a commercial hub, but it is also one of the most sought-after residential localities. It is dotted with schools, colleges, sprawling offices, hospitals and fitness centres. In case of any emergency, St John’s Hospital and Apollo Hospital are just a stone’s throw away from the bus depot. Bangalore International Airport, located about 40 km, is also easily accessible. BMTC’s Volvo buses that ply every 20 minutes from Koramangala bus depot to the airport are very convenient and also reasonably priced at Rs 200-Rs250. If you were to take a cab or an autorikshaw, it will cost you over Rs 500-Rs700. Two other happening areas in the city, Indiranagar and M.G. Road, are 5 km and 6 km away respectively. Important boarding points like Madiwala (1.3 km), Silk Board (2 km), HSR Layout (5.5 km), Kalasipalayam (7 km) and Majestic (10 km) are also within close range.

There is no dearth of eateries in this area. The gourmet scene varies from fine-dining to fast-food outlets to exotic bakeries and ice cream parlours. If you want to just rush through your lunch or dinner before you board your bus, you can go to McDonald’s, KFC, Pizza Hut, Shanti Sagar, Kamat or any joint that you will find in good number at every corner of the street. However, for a quiet dinner, Black Pearl, Fenny’s Lounge and Kitchen, Barbeque Nation, Mainland China and Little Italy are some of the places where you can go to. With the recent extension of nightlife from 11 pm to 1 am over the weekends, this neighbourhood is witnessing happy revelers. Firangi Paani, Legends of Rock, Coco Bongo, Banana Beach Bar, Turquoise Lounge and bar, Over the Top Terrace Lounge are places where you can happily chill out till 1 am.

Forum Mall is a landmark in this locality. Whether you want to shop, dine or enjoy a movie, this is your one-stop destination. Another mall you can go to is the Raheja Arcade Mall. After you have splurged in the malls, if you want to spend a quiet evening amidst nature, head out to Madiwala Lake nearby. You can also visit St John’s Church or visit the Ayyappa Temple in Madiwala.
