The Velliangiri Mountains is known popularly as the “Kailash of the South”. Located in the Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu, this place is considered on par with Mount Kailash, the most powerful place in the universe and that is the reason why Shiva is worshipped as Swayambhu on the top of the hills.
