“Increasing play at work boosts creativity and productivity,” Dr Stuart Brown, founder of the National Institute for Play, California.
At TicketGoose, we follow this dictum very seriously; which is why there’s not even a single festival that goes by without celebrations at the office. Whether it is the Women’s Day or the festival of colours, Holi, or Vara Mahalakshmi (dedicated to the goddess of wealth and prosperity) or Independence Day or Diwali or Christmas – all are equally important to us and we celebrate them with great enthusiasm.
On such occasions, the entire office looks festive and colourful as we usually have dress codes for those days. Typically, traditional wear, the ladies come in all their finery. The best part of the festivals apart from the camaraderie that we all share — cutting across different departments — is the team lunch. This is the time when we actually get to sit down together outside office and just relax over our meals. And yes, we do get to select our fare of either vegetarian or non-vegetarian dishes. No celebration is complete without game sessions.
Birthdays are special occasions as well. There’s a cake for every birthday girl or boy, which is cut with great fervor. Of course, some of them even get their birthday bumps.
Philosopher and mathematician, Plato’s, maxim: “You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation,” holds true even in today’s context where there are multiple departments and teams in an office. With hectic work schedules, we hardly get to interact with the team members from other departments. It is only on such occasions that we get to mingle with each other and make office hours fun.
Though there’s never a day without laughter and fun in the office, we all love to work hard and play hard. As TicketGoose steps into its eighth successful year, we look forward to many more fun days ahead.
