Domlur, a busy neighborhood in East Bangalore, has an identity of its own. The Airport Road Flyover in the area is a landmark in itself. It might be transitioning into one of the busiest commercial centres with several multinational companies, high-end showrooms, luxury hotels and restaurants booming in the locality, but the 10th century Chokkanathaswamy Temple in the neighbourhood that dates back to the Chola dynasty speaks of the rich historical past. Formerly, called the Bhagat Singh Nagar, Domlur supposedly got its name from ‘Tombalur’, a kind of flower. Writings in the Chokkanathaswamy Temple stand testimony to the fact.
